A Healthy Start for You and Your Baby

Breastfeeding is a great way to give your baby a healthy start. Human milk provides babies with the perfect balance of protein, sugar and fat for healthy growth. It has a number for benefits for children—and their mothers.

For children, breastfeeding boosts immunity against diseases and infections, lowers the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), and supports healthy weight gain. For mothers, it builds strong bonds, speeds recovery after childbirth, burns extra calories, lowers the risk of certain cancers, and saves money spent on formula.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that parents feed infants only breast milk for the first six months, and continue breastfeeding for at least the next six months as your baby eats new foods. The Service Benefit Plan is here to help you give your baby the healthiest start and support your efforts to continue breastfeeding.
