3 Ways to Exercise and Socialize This Fall
Cooler temps and shorter days are fast approaching—but the good times don’t have to end. In fact, as the temperature drops into a more moderate range, you may find yourself going for longer walks, afternoon bike rides or evening hikes.
The great thing about summer is that you can combine movement with socializing through group exercise. Thankfully, there are a few ways to keep this combination together well into fall.
Why exercise with a friend? The benefits are nearly endless. Having an exercise buddy (or buddies) helps you stay accountable to your goals and makes exercise more fun. Plus, you can make new and meaningful friendships while you do it.
1) Yoga outside combines all of the benefits of yoga along with the refreshing feeling of being outdoors. Haven’t tried yoga before? It is one of the best forms of exercise for any age and fitness level. It can help you manage stress and build muscle.
2) Group cycling is the perfect activity to experience the splendors of fall. Low impact on your joints. High impact on your well-being. Bicycling is a great way to get moving and only gets more fun alongside fellow cyclists. Check your area for group rides.
3) Join a hiking group. Being in nature is proven to boost happiness and reduce stress—making hiking a popular activity. While many cities have numerous hiking groups, this is one activity that requires no special equipment (other than comfy shoes) and doesn’t require any skill. Simply invite a friend, lace up and head out.
